Prague Jungle Vases
Master thesis
Prague Jungle Vases are objects that go beyond the boundaries of a mere decorative object. They are an authentic statement, an installation and a reflection of the combination of my feelings about life and the vibrant energy in Prague.
The hand painted and sprayed decor is inspired by the facades of Prague houses. From the shabby underside of the houses, to the stucco and cable scrunches, to the sky itself with flying swifts.
Speakers with sounds from my favourite places in Prague and a frequency of 82 Hz vibrate the vase, it gently shakes to the touch. The vibrating vase evokes a pulsating Prague, which shakes due to the intricate system of underground transport.
Technique: hand-blown glass in a wooden mould, hand painting with glass firing paints, spraying with glass paints.
