The head-shaped vase is by no means a new concept in the world of design and art. It has appeared in many iconic forms throughout history. After years of closely observing historical vases, however, I began to notice that many of them, through their shape and expression, resemble a woman’s head. I transformed this idea into the object Mrs Vase.
It is an object situated somewhere between design and fine art. Its form is simple, almost archetypal, with a subtle handcrafted detail: hand-painted lips suggesting a gentle smile.
My inspiration comes from Pop Art and, more broadly, from the work of Ladislav Sutnar and David Lynch. I would like the Mrs Vases to be perceived as Joy-Art objects – joyful, confident sculptures created for everyday life.
Available in a range of colour variations, the vases can easily adapt to different interiors and moods.
Hand-blown glass made in a wooden mould, finished with hand-painted fired glass colours.
