Shell of glass Opal

Glass shell made of glass

Magical, feminine, changeable. The shell is another of the powerful symbols that have fascinated me since childhood. The meaning of the seashell varies from a symbol of wisdom and femininity to the logo of an oil company. For the collection of three shells with fabrics, I was inspired by the works and personalities of two women, Hannah and Ela.

Ela is a jewellery designer in her own right, and working with pearls is significant to her, as is the symbol of the chrysalis, which is important to Ela for personal reasons. The hawthorn is also a symbol of transformation and strength, it's not just a dwarf that eats leaves. But it also brings good luck, just to people who are going through some kind of change. It's no coincidence that Ela chose it. Ela got me the pearls she's been working with to include in the piece.

Hana is a fashion designer who, despite her talent and success, is one of the most modest people I know. She creates elaborate costumes (in the sense of women's clothing) both artisanally and conceptually.
I asked Hannah to put aside fabric scraps when sewing her latest collection. These fabrics have become part of my pieces, and Hana even helped me stitch certain fabric fragments together, making the work much more sophisticated.
